Fellowship in the American Association for Women in Radiology (FAAWR) recognizes members who have made sustained contributions to the AAWR and to radiology through service, teaching, or scientific and clinical research. The Fellow ceremony is an opportunity for the AAWR to honor these members for their hard work, dedication, and support of the organization over the years. Fellows can proudly add "FAAWR" to their credentials.
Eligibility
Candidates must be current AAWR members with at least 10 years of cumulative dues-paying membership (in-training membership counts) and a sustained record of attendance at or participation in AAWR-sponsored activities, conferences, events, functions, or meetings. If membership years are not continuous, candidates should report prior dues-paying membership years and dates to the best of their ability.
Candidates need to qualify in only one area of the criteria grid. The bullet points in each area are examples of acceptable criteria, and candidates are not expected to meet every one. Fellows are expected to maintain appropriate AAWR membership to retain the FAAWR designation.
Nomination Criteria
Nomination Process
The call for Fellow nominations opens annually and is announced to members by email and on this page. A complete nomination includes the following items:
- The completed application form with a copy of the candidate's curriculum vitae.
- Two letters of endorsement from current AAWR members (one can be a colleague; ideally one is an AAWR Fellow). The letters should detail the length and nature of the relationship with the candidate and describe the candidate's past, present, and anticipated future contributions to the AAWR by virtue of their national or international reputation, excellence as a teacher or researcher, or service activities. Letters are submitted by the writer directly to [email protected].
New Fellows are inducted at the AAWR Business Meeting. Questions about the fellowship or your membership status can be sent to [email protected].
